The Coastal Discovery Center in San Simeon marks 20 years with a free, family-filled Get Into Your Sanctuary celebration on the shore of San Simeon Bay.
Since 2006, the Coastal Discovery Center has been a collaboration between NOAA’s Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and California State Parks, and this Saturday it celebrates two decades of connecting people to the coast. The event is part of the national Get Into Your Sanctuary day, with a full slate of free, family-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Try recreational fishing on the San Simeon Pier with the Cambria Fishing Club, take a virtual 360-degree dive into Monterey Bay, make ocean-themed arts and crafts, and visit exhibitor booths from local agencies and community partners including California State Parks and the Central California Marine Animal Response Team. It is a wonderful way for families to explore the marine world right on the North Coast.
