Discovery Saturday: Sanctuary Recreation

Spend a hands-on afternoon along the coast at Discovery Saturday: Sanctuary Recreation, a free, family-friendly event hosted by the Coastal Discovery Center and the Cambria Fishing Club at W.R. Hearst Memorial Beach.

From 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, visitors are invited to take part in guided recreational fishing on the San Simeon Pier, create ocean-themed art, and learn about NOAA’s best practices for sustainable fishing. Whether you’re casting a line for the first time or simply enjoying the coastal setting, this event offers an engaging way to connect with the ocean and the local environment.

All supplies are provided, and no prior experience is needed, making it an easy and welcoming experience for all ages. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the Central Coast, learn something new, and spend time outdoors in one of the most scenic spots in the area.
