SUMMARY:Invasive Plants of Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Nature Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join a unique guided walk at the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve to explore the hidden work that helps protect one of Cambria’s most treasured natural spaces.\nThis special docent-led walk replaces the originally scheduled May 16 outing and offers a behind-the-scenes look at how volunteers help manage invasive plant species across the Ranch. Led by docent Michael Thomas\, participants will spend approximately two hours\, mostly off trail\, learning about the invasive plants found on the preserve\, where they come from\, how they are removed\, and how restoration efforts are prioritized week to week. \nWhile the Ranch is known for its beautiful native landscapes and spring wildflowers\, it takes more than 1\,000 volunteer hours each year to maintain these conditions. This walk offers a deeper understanding of that effort while giving participants a more hands-on connection to the land. \nWear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for off-trail walking. Children are welcome with adult supervision. Please note that dogs are not permitted\, there are no restroom facilities on site\, and rain will cancel the event. \nFor registration and additional details\, visit the official event page. \nExplore more local outdoor experiences on the HelloCambria events calendar\, or discover more ways to enjoy the area in our Cambria guide.

SUMMARY:Greenspace Speaker Series: Living Amongst Giants\, Mankind vs. Ecosystems\, Paul C. Williams
DESCRIPTION:The Greenspace Speaker Series returns with Paul C. Williams presenting Living Amongst Giants: Mankind vs. Ecosystems\, an in-depth look at how human activity intersects with the natural systems that keep urban and wild landscapes healthy. \nPaul is the owner and operator of Williams Pest Management\, a locally based company specializing in integrated pest management\, urban forest biology\, and ecosystem-focused landscape pest and disease management. With decades of hands-on field experience\, he has developed a science-based approach to managing pests\, plant diseases\, and environmental stress in urban landscapes. His work focuses on the relationships between soil health\, water management\, plant biology\, and the ecological systems that support long-term landscape stability. Paul’s expertise includes tree and plant biology with a specialization in urban forest ecosystems\, invasive species\, and vegetation management in sensitive environments. \nThis is a thoughtful\, locally relevant talk for anyone who cares about Cambria’s pine forests\, native plant communities\, and the practical realities of stewarding land in a changing climate. Baked goods and refreshments will be served. \nA $10 suggested donation per person supports the Greenspace Speaker Series. To reserve your spot\, email admin@greenspacecambria.org\, call the office at 805.927.2866\, or use the QR code on the event flyer. \nTicket Website Link: https://checkout.square.site/merchant/QEXQRN7CTG6Z9/checkout/TW6C767VQMTOEEJ7DMFIBACZ?src=webqr
