SUMMARY:Working With Wood: Featuring Four Local Artists at Cambria Center for the Arts
DESCRIPTION:The Cambria Center for the Arts opens “Working With Wood\,” a month-long exhibition featuring four local artists exploring wood as a medium from completely different angles.\nThe show runs from Tuesday\, June 2 through Sunday\, June 28\, with an opening reception on Saturday\, June 6 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Snacks are complimentary\, and wine is available for purchase. \nWood has been part of Cambria’s identity since its earliest days as “Slabtown\,” a Monterey pine lumbering hub\, and that legacy continues today everywhere from the driftwood huts along Moonstone Beach to the artist studios tucked into the pines. This exhibit features Steven Beck\, Brooks Lawrence\, Jim Rogers\, and Bill White\, each approaching wood from a totally different perspective. Expect furniture\, kitchen utility pieces\, and pure creative expression all in one room. \nGallery hours run Tuesday through Sunday\, noon to 4 PM. SUMMARY:37th Annual Greenspace Adventure Auction
DESCRIPTION:For 37 years\, the Greenspace Adventure Auction has been one of the most beloved fundraisers on the North Coast\, bringing the community together to support the work that protects Cambria’s unique Monterey pine forests\, native habitats\, and open spaces.\nThis year’s auction returns on Saturday\, June 27\, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Joslyn Center in Cambria. \nThe evening features a curated silent and live auction with adventures\, trips\, art\, and one-of-a-kind experiences you won’t find anywhere else. A plated dinner from San Simeon Beach Bar & Grill is included\, paired with local Central Coast wines. The menu opens with a salad of raspberry vinaigrette\, feta\, and candied walnuts\, followed by a choice of prime rib with a twice-baked potato and asparagus\, primavera pasta with garlic bread\, or grilled salmon with rice and market vegetables. Cheesecake with raspberry and candied pecans for dessert. \nTickets are $125 per person\, all fees included\, and the event is 21 and over only. Proceeds directly support Greenspace’s work preserving Cambria’s native Monterey pine forests\, expanding science and nature-based education\, advocating for environmental protection\, acquiring land for conservation\, and running reforestation programs. This is one of the year’s best ways to support the cause and have a great time doing it. \nTickets are limited and tend to sell out.
